Cole County sheriff addresses police shootings

Sheriff Greg White said he was up most of Thursday night monitoring developments in the deadly ambush of police officers in Dallas.

White said he does not believe that the shootings will have much local impact but that the sorrow for those killed is being felt by law enforcement across the country.

In an email sent early Friday morning, White reminded his staff to remember why they do their work and to remember their training and equipment.

“I encouraged my people to remember their oath of office, to uphold the constitutions, both U.S. and Missouri, to walk according to the statutes, to walk uprightly, to do their job, to do it well, to be thoughtful in what they do, but to be intentional in all that they do,” said White.”Remember that you stand against evil to protect all.”

Cole County sheriff’s deputies were instructed to display a black ribbon over their badges in honor of the Dallas victims.
