Mizzou football gets set for Mayor’s Cup matchup with South Carolina

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou football team will host South Carolina on Saturday at 3 p.m. in the annual Mayor's Cup. Head coach Eli Drinkwitz previewed the matchup with the Gamecocks at his news conference on Tuesday.

Quarterback Connor Bazelak was back at practice on Tuesday afternoon. He missed the Tigers last game due to a soft tissue injury. Coach Drinkwitz said he's still not sure if Bazelak will be ready to go against the Gamecocks on Saturday.

MU is 4-5 overall and 1-4 in the SEC. The Tigers are coming off a 37-point loss to No. 1 Georgia. Meanwhile, South Carolina is 5-4 overall and 2-4 in the SEC. The Gamecocks dominated Florida 40-17 this past Saturday.

Mizzou has won the last two matchups over the Gamecocks, and the Tigers lead the all-time series 6-5.
