Fog covers Columbia roads Monday morning

Monday morning, drivers will see lots of fog on the road.

Highway Patrol says first and foremost to drive slowly. They also say to never drive distracted. Turn off the music, have both hands on the wheel, and roll down your window to hear other traffic on the road.

Officials also say to never drive with brights on during fog. The reason being that fog is made up of tiny water droplets that reflect light and the brights would be too much.

However, turning on your low beam headlights is necessary for other drivers to see you.

If drivers do not feel comfortable driving in the fog, pull off into a safe parking lot and wait for it to lift.
