Tractor trailor crash on I-70 causes traffic delays

A tractor trailer crash on I-70 Westbound partially blocked traffic between the 116 and 117 mile marker.

Highway Patrol tells ABC 17 News crews it was a three vehicle car crash involving two semi-trucks and a pick-up truck. It happened around 6:45 a.m. Friday and MSHP stayed on scene until about 9:30 a.m.

One of the trailers was a UPS freight. When the two trucks collided, some of the cargo the UPS truck was hauling fell out of the truck and onto the interstate.

Hospital OR gowns and boxes of nutrition bars covered the shoulder of the road.

Highway Patrol and the UPS driver cleared most the debris.

The initial investigation shows one of the semis may have been trying to pass when they clipped each other, tearing open the cargo area of both trailers. The pick-up was involved after the two semi’s initially made contact.

Troopers said the pick up truck driver was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation. The two others were not hurt.
