Overheated HVAC unit causes smoke in central Columbia Burger King

Firefighters responded to reports of a fire at a central Columbia Burger King restaurant Tuesday.

It happened just after 9:00 on Business Loop 70 East Tuesday morning.

The Columbia Fire Department says it responded to a reported commercial structure fire.

Firefighters say they found a smokey haze in the structure when they arrived.

Fire crews then apparently conducted an investigation of the structure and roof area to locate the source generating the smoke.

Fire crews say they discovered an overheated motor in a HVAC unit on the roof, which caused the smokey haze in the structure.

There were no reported injuries.
