Shooting in northeast Columbia just miles away from new police substation
Columbia Police responded to reports of a shooting Wednesday morning in the 2700 block of Paris Road.
It reportedly happened just after midnight while police were responding to reports of a different shooting in the 2700 block of Leeway Drive.
Columbia Police say the second call came from the Midwest Petroleum located at 2712 Paris Road. That caller reported two vehicles exchanging gunfire in the parking lot before both cars fled the scene and went north on Paris Road.
Our crews were on scene this morning at the Midwest Petroleum gas station on Paris Road. A clerk at the gas station told ABC 17 News she heard gun shots right outside the building, adding that the shooting happened in the parking lot near the ice machine.
Officers on scene say they found multiple shell casings outside the gas station.
There were no reports of injury and no property was damaged. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
The location of the incident is less than three miles from the Columbia Police Department’s new substation. Police hope the new substation will help cut down on crime in that part of town.
