Hot, humid weekend, spot storm chance

Southerly winds will transport warm, humid air into Mid-Missouri through Sunday, making it feel more like July than early June. Nights will stay warm and muggy with low temperatures in the lower 70s. Mostly sunny skies will bring temperatures up quickly during the day to near 90 by noon and into the low to mid 90s in the afternoons which is 10-12 degrees above normal.

When you factor in the humidity, it will feel hotter. The heat index will climb into upper 90s Saturday afternoon and near 100 Sunday afternoon. The humidity causes sweat to evaporate more slowly which causes our bodies to heat up. During these hot, humid days, drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks when out in the heat to keep your body cool.

Most of the weekend looks dry but a spot t-storm is possible after 2 PM Sunday until the sun sets. These will be rather isolated but any that pop up could be strong, producing brief heavy rain and strong wind gusts.
