No one hurt after driver cracks utility pole in half

ABC 17 News learned no one was hurt after a car snapped a utility pole in half, closing a road in east Columbia near Broadway and Highway 63 on Wednesday.

At least six units responded around 11:40 a.m. at St. Charles Road, near the doctors’ offices on Keene Street.

Emergency crews at the scene told ABC 17 News one woman was inside the car but not injured.

They had to close both lanes of St. Charles Road near Hominy Branch Creek while workers secured the power lines and replaced the pole.

ABC 17 News is working to confirm when the street will reopen.
