Victim in Johnson County homicide identified as Fulton man

UPDATE: The victim in this week’s deadly shooting in Johnson County has been identified as Thomas Noel Craig from Fulton. According to the Missouri Rural Major Case Squad, Craig was last seen leaving Fulton around midnight on June 1.

Anyone with informationor who may have seen Mr. Craig is asked to call the Major Case Squad at (660) 219-9276.

ORIGINAL: ABC 17 News confirmed the Missouri Rural Major Case Squad is now investigating after a man was found shot to death about an hour west of Columbia. The victim is 48 years-old, possibly from Fulton, but they are waiting on fingerprint results before releasing his identity.

Deputies discovered him lying in the middle of the street Wednesday in the 1260 block of NE 1075 Road near the Dunksburg bridge. It is just south of I-70 between Concordia and Sweet Springs.

The Johnson County sheriff’s department handled the original scene and used the highway patrol to help with exact measurements.

The multi-agency task force was just activated Thursday. Over 40 investigators spent the day tracking down more than 50 leads, but more information is not expected until Friday.
