An Audrain County prosecutor has charged a Centralia man after he allegedly used a gun in front of multiple witnesses to threaten dogs.

Charles Schnepp is charged with second-degree terrorist threat, first-degree harassment and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon.

Audrain County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report on Oct. 26 of Schnepp threatening to shoot a person’s dogs on Audrain Road 234.

According to court documents, while deputies were on the way, Schnepp traveled near an Amish schoolhouse where he again threatened dogs in front of 19 children. Schnepp then left the schoolhouse on a motorcycle and went to his residence, documents say.

Deputies then went to Schnepp’s residence as Schnepp arrived. According to documents, Schnepp then threw a motorcycle helmet on the ground near a deputy. Deputies reported finding the gun and pepper spray on Schnepp's motorcycle.

Schnepp appeared on video for his initial court hearing Thursday. Schnepp has a $5,000 cash or surety bond set.

A disposition hearing is scheduled for Dec. 9.
