Planes set to fly high in Salute to Veterans Air Show this weekend

This weekend the Salute to Veterans Corporation is inviting the public to attend the 28th annual airshow at Columbia Regional Airport.

Admission is free; many attractions will be on display on the tarmac such as a U.S. Air Force Rapid Strike Simulator, and activities for the children, along with refreshments.

There will also be two jump teams and a handful of demonstration teams to show off the aerobatic maneuvers the planes are capable of.

The Salute to Veterans Corporation will also honor guests from United States Army, Air Force, and Marines, and Navy.

There are rules and regulations as well as advice you will need to know upon attending the airshow. Visitors are allowed to bring in collapsible strollers and folding chairs. They are not allowed to bring in coolers, alcohol, bicycles, tricycles, scooters, or weapons.

The organizers are also asking people to park at the 5th and Walnut Street garage in Columbia or at the Jefferson City airport in Jefferson City. At both locations, there will be shuttles available for a $5 roundtrip ticket. That price is per head; kids do not ride for free.

You will not be allowed to park at or near the airport, or along the roads leading to the airport.
