Over 70 runners join law enforcement torch run

This year’s 30th annual law enforcement torch run involved members from four agencies. It helped kick off Missouri’s Special Olympics Summer Games this weekend in Springfield.

The event on Thursday stretched from the Ike Skelton building near the Jefferson City prison all the to the Law Enforcement Memorial at the state capitol.

The seven-mile route had over 72 runners from the Highway Patrol, Jefferson City Police, Missouri Department of Corrections, Cole County Sheriff’s Office and Special Olympic athletes.

It was set for 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., ending with a ceremony from the Jefferson City mayor.
