Driver killed in crash on Highway 50 in Gasconade County identified

UPDATE 5/18 8:24 am: Missouri State Highway Patrol crash records say 56-year-old Carolyn Smith was killed in a crash on Highway 50 yesterday in Gasconade County.

Troopers say Smith crossed the center line on the road, striking another vehicle. The highway patrol says this is the third fatal crash this month in mid-Missouri and 24th for 2016.

ORIGINAL STORY: One person has died following a crash on Highway 50 in Gasconade County, just east of Rose Bud.

Troopers responded to the crash around 9:57 a.m. Sgt. Scott White said the crash involved a pickup truck and tractor-trailer; the driver of the smaller truck died.

MODoT workers went to the scene to help troopers detour traffic around the crash.
