Severe storms possible Friday Evening

A Severe Storm Watch is in effect until 8 PM for a large portion of Mid-Missouri. Damaging winds up to 70 mph and large hail up to the size of ping pong balls are possible.

A cold front will send a line of storms through Mid-Missouri from 4PM in our far northwestern counties of Chariton, Saline and Macon counties heading southeast to I-44 by 8 PM. These will move through Columbia and Jefferson City areas from 6-7 PM. See Futuretrack for 5,6 & 7 PM in the Related Content section to the left.

Brief heavy rain, frequent lightning and possible damaging wind and large hail will accompany the strongest storms during the evening commute through 8 PM.
