Kansas City woman found guilty in 2011 mid-Missouri murder

A Kansas City woman could face another 15 years in prison for killing a man in eastern mid-Missouri. Cassandra Johnston was found guilty Thursday of shooting 55-year-old Edward Jefferson.

In June 2011, Johnston asked Jefferson to take her and her mother and brother to Illinois. Along the way, she shot and killed Jefferson and left his body in the parking lot of an asphalt plant off I-70 in Danville, Montgomery County.

Johnston’s sentencing is set for June 13.
