Chance of storms Friday, marginal severe threat

We are tracking another cold front which moves in Friday evening. Ahead of this front, temperatures will reach near 80 degrees with partly cloudy skies. Scattered showers and t-storms are expected to develop ahead of the front Friday afternoon in northern Missouri and move southeast into Mid-Missouri after 4 PM.

These are forecast to move through from late afternoon through midnight. While most of the storms will produce brief heavy rain and lightning, there is a low chance a few could strengthen and become severe, mainly north of HWY 50 where there is a Marginal Severe Threat for isolated storms with damaging wind or large hail.

Much cooler air will move in Friday night, dropping us to the low 40s by Saturday morning and giving us a chilly weekend.
