Columbia business owner, former city council candidate to run for mayor
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A former Columbia's sixth ward seat candidate is running for mayor.
Randy Minchew says he has the 100 signatures to run for mayor.
Minchew will run his campaign on "safer, stronger Columbia."
Minchew says he wants to solve the city's trash issues, better-trained police, and bring in more officers. Minchew would also like to add more fire stations to the town.
Minchew has been a business owner in Columbia for 25 years. He also ran for the city council in 2021 and 2015 but dropped out of the race.
Columbia Mayor Brian Treece announced he won’t run for reelection on Sept. 17. Treece's term expires in April 2022.
