Threat for Severe Storms Monday Afternoon/Evening

Parts of Mid-Missouri have now been downgraded to a Marginal Risk for severe storms this afternoon and evening. Due to rain this morning, areas north of I-70 may be less favorable to see severe thunderstorms, while small hail will be possible in the weaker storms. Areas south have the greatest chance where instability will be present, along with wind shear. The tornado threat is low today, while it’s still there at 2%. This looks to be limited to areas south of HWY 50 should one occur. Winds of 60+ mph or greater, and hail of 1″ or greater is not ruled out. Here is a look at the probabilities as of 12PM. The risk today is from 1PM-9PM. Storms look to strengthen by 3PM. Heavy down pours will be possible with these storms, where 0.5″ to 1″ is likely.
