Police searching for suspect after Columbia shooting injures 2
Columbia Police are investigating after receiving reports of multiple gun shots.
It happened in the 400 block of Hirth Ave. around 1:45 a.m. Sunday.
On scene, officers found multiple bullet holes in the driver’s side door of a maroon Dodge Charger. One female victim who is 27 years old had minor injuries to her legs from parts of the car hitting her.
A K9 was called to the scene to help search for a possible second victim. Officers then got information of a male with a gunshot wound to the leg at a local hospital. The male victim, age 40, was taken to the hospital by personal vehicle. Both victims had non-life threatening injuries.
Our ABC 17 News crews saw multiple markers on the ground marking shell casings found. Officers on scene could not give a final number on how many they found.
ABC17 crews returned to the street later in the afternoon to talk with neighbors about what they heard and saw. Most were woken up by the shots fired and the police sirens.
One man said that he was sitting on his back porch when the incident happened. He heard the gun shots as well as a car speeding off.
Neighbors said they are pretty sure the shooter does not live on or near the area.
As of 6 p.m. Sunday, police did not have any suspect information to release.
