Columbia man convicted of selling heroin in mid-Missouri

A federal grand jury has found a Columbia man guilty for his role in a conspiracy to sell heroin. Nalenzer Edwards, 47, was accused of helping to sell heroin in Columbia from March 2015 to June 2015.

On June 10 of that year, police followed Edwards from Columbia to a known drug house in Jefferson City. A confidential informant had told officers Edwards intended to drop off money to his heroin supplier. After Edwards returned to Columbia, police searched the trash at the Jefferson City home and found items used in drug trafficking.

A week later, police again followed Edwards to the home in Jefferson City. After he left there, officers pulled him over, and found nearly 20 grams of heroin in his car. Police also searched the home in Jefferson City, finding heroin and crack cocaine.

Edwards reportedly told investigators he had been getting heroin from the Jefferson City supplier on a weekly basis for several months prior. He also admitted to packaging the heroin into smaller amounts for customers in Columbia.

Edwards could face up to 40 years in prison without parole. His sentencing has not been scheduled.
