Traffic Alert: Rangeline Street closed for weeks

UPDATE: Rangeline at I-70 is now closed. MoDOT says the eastbound I-70 traffic will switch to the new bridge over Rangeline tonight. It was delayed due to the fog.

The Missouri Department of Transportation is closing Rangeline at I-70 for 20 days starting on Tuesday, May 3. Crews are installing a double roundabout interchange there. MoDOT engineers encourage drivers to avoid the area if possible.

“Our primary focus is to keep traffic from backing up on I-70, which means there will likely be minor delays on other routes as a result,” said Travis Koestner, assistant district engineer for the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Central District.

MoDOT engineers said drivers headed north of I-70 can use Providence Road, but to expect traffic congestion.

“Taking Providence as an alternate route is certainly an option, but if everyone uses that road, it could be a problem,” Koestner said. “If drivers have other ways than Providence to get around the work zone, it would be wise to use them.”

The total project will cost around $18 million.
