Storm System Brewing to the West Will Result in Possible Thunderstorms Sunday Night

An upper level trough of low pressure will begin pushing its way from Nebraska and eastern Colorado into Kansas during the day tomorrow, eventually making its way into the northwestern corner of Missouri by early Monday morning.

Thunderstorms and rain showers are expected to develop along this front, with some storms having the potential to become strong to severe. However, the biggest risk for severe weather is confined to the west of Interstate 35, well to the northwest of our viewing area. Nonetheless, the far western fringes of Chariton and Saline counties have been placed under a “Marginal” risk for severe weather, with the biggest threat being damaging winds and hail greater than one inch in diameter.

As these storms move eastward Sunday night, they are expected to weaken quickly. Consequently, only a few isolated and likely non-severe thunderstorms will be possible for the majority of central Missouri.
