Supporters and opponents protest at Columbia’s Planned Parenthood

Protesters gathered at more than 200 planned parenthood locations across the country Saturday in part of a national protest day.

Protests in Columbia began at 10 a.m.

According to Planned Parenthood, 3% of their services are abortions. But the abortions is what upsets most protesters. They say because Planned Parenthood performs them at, they should not be receiving any federal funding.

Earlier this week, the Missouri State Senate and the St. Louis area Planned Parenthood CEO reached an agreement. The senate would stop contempt proceedings and the CEO will release some subpoenaed documents. Those documents include fetal tissue disposal policies and written protocols for abortions. A legislative committee subpoenaed for the documents last year.

Senators began investigating Missouri’s Planned Parenthood clinics after last year’s controversial undercover videos accused the organization of illegally selling fetal tissue for profit. The St. Louis location is Missouri’s only abortion provider.

The Missouri attorney general did not find any evidence of wrongdoing in Missouri.
