Tracking a breezy Wednesday with cooler air moving in by tomorrow night

TONIGHT: Mostly clear to partly cloudy and breezy. Lows in the mid-50s.

TOMORROW: Partly to mostly cloudy and breezy with highs in the lower 70s. Spot showers or storms possible through late afternoon.

EXTENDED: Tonight will be a bit more mild as winds have shifted to the south, bringing temperatures into the low to mid-50s overnight as we get gusts up to 20 mph. A cold front approaches the area tomorrow, bringing a chance for a spot shower or storm through mid-late afternoon, however it looks like the better environment to see organized storms will be to our east across St. Louis and Illinois. I am not expecting much rain with this frontal passage, but temperatures cool into the lower 40s by Thursday morning in its wake, and only warm into the lower 60s. Friday is fall like with highs near 65 and temperatures in the low 50s for high school football. We'll see increasing clouds Saturday ahead of a warm front that will move in from the southwest, bringing a chance for rain and a few storms by Saturday evening. Rain and storms lift north with the front into Sunday, bringing about an inch or so of rain through Monday morning. Another system quickly moves in on its heels by late Tuesday into Wednesday, bringing another round of storms and additional inch of rainfall. Temperatures will be warming up as the jet stream lifts north again at the same time, as highs get back into the low to mid-70s next week. Another late week system could bring rain by next weekend and potentially a Halloween cooldown, but we'll have to keep an eye on this amplified and active pattern into the end of the month.
