Miller County man arrested for holding two people hostage
A man from Eldon has been arrested after allegedly holding two people hostage Sunday morning. The incident happened at a home on Leisure Road outside the city.
Deputies say Geoffery Merrick held the man and woman in his home without their consent for an extended period of time that morning. He also allegedly assaulted both victims, the man getting serious physical injuries as a result.
By the time deputies arrived, the hostages had managed to free themselves and get out of the home. Merrick was then arrested without incident.
Merrick faces two kidnapping charges and one assault charge.
