Auxvasse man facing federal charges for illegal guns, silencers

A man in Auxvasse faces federal charges for having illegal guns and silencers. A grand jury indicted Billy Owen, 53, in February; that indictment was unsealed Tuesday, and includes charges of being a felon in possession of firearms and possessing three unregistered silencers.

In December 2015, investigators say they found Owen, who has a prior felony conviction, in possession of 21 handguns, rifles, and shotguns, as well as the silencers. Under federal law, it is illegal for anyone who has been convicted of a felony to have a gun,
