Head-on collision sends two men to the hospital

A 19-year-old Jefferson City man is still in the hospital after an early morning crash in Cole County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 5:20 a.m. Saturday on Route M near Kleffner Ridge Road.

Troopers say Cody Stegemann, 19, was driving eastbound when he crossed the center line.

Stegemann and the driver of the second car both swerved and hit each other head on.

Stegemann was taken to University Hospital with serious injuries. Hospital officials said he was in fair condition Saturday afternoon.
