Repairs, replacements not budgeted for downtown security cameras

Some security cameras in downtown Columbia will eventually no longer be used by the Columbia Police Department.

ABC 17 News confirmed with the Columbia Police Department Wednesday that the department did not budget for camera replacements or maintenance to the cameras.

This only affects six cameras downtown and does not include the garage cameras maintained by Public Works.

The cameras were bought in around four to five year ago.

ABC 17 News is told replacing the cameras would have cost around $100,000.
