Police investigating home invasion in south Columbia

Police are investigating a home invasion call in south Columbia. The call went out Thursday afternoon in the area of Bennett Springs Drive, near Campusview Drive.

Public information officer Bryana Larimer tells ABC 17 News the investigation took officers to the 700 block of Stillwater Drive for a home invasion with a gun.

Our crew at the scene saw authorities searching the area with the help of a K9 unit. Larmier said the track led them to one suspect, who has been detained.

(Editor’s note, 3:55 p.m.: The story clarifies the nature of the call. An earlier version said the investigation was in regards to a “shots fired.” Larimer tells ABC 17 News there was no evidence of shots being fired in the area.)
