Highway Patrol releases new details about crash on I-70 near Kingdom City

CALLAWAY COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

One person was treated for minor injuries after a crash Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 70 near Kingdom City.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened at 1:05 p.m. in the eastbound lanes about a mile west of mile marker 153.4.

ABC 17 News first told you about the 10 to 15-mile traffic backups as a result of the crash with an alert on our news app.

Troopers said Grace E. Deal, 24, of Columbia, was hurt after a semi-truck driven by Richard L. Powers, 63, of Lexington, Tennessee, crashed into the back of her SUV and two other vehicles.

Traffic was at a standstill in the area due to a different wreck, according to the crash report.

Trooper said the semi blocked both eastbound lanes of I-70 after the crash.

Deal was taken to University Hospital with minor injuries. A spokesman for MU Health Care told ABC 17 News Thursday morning Deal is in fair condition.

No one else was hurt in the crash.

Troopers said everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt.

According to the crash report, Deal's SUV and another car were totaled in the crash.
