Pair of fires keeps Mid County Fire District busy
An SUV caught fire north of Greenview in Camden County on Monday afternoon. The fire happened at a home on Velvet Antler Road shortly after 1:30 p.m.
According to the Mid County Fire District, firefighters arrived to find an SUV on fire, and the surrounding grass burning. It took about 15 minutes to get the fires under control; the SUV was destroyed, and the grass fire was contained to less than one acre.
The fire started with the SUV, but the cause likely won’t be determined due to the extent of the damage to the vehicle. An engine from the Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District helped in this situation.
At around the same time, Mid County crews responded to a brush fire on Waldren Road, off State Highway D southwest of Camdenton. They found a fast-moving brush fire in a field, and got it under control in about 20 minutes. Around two acres of land were burned by the fire. A truck from the Camdenton Fire Department helped with this fire.
No injuries were reported in either incident. Mid County officials ask that people avoid outside burns for the next few days, due to dry and windy conditions in the forecast.
