Fire Danger for The Beginning of the Work Week

As temperatures warm quickly on Monday and strong winds out of the southwest return to the area, fire danger will be heightened at the start of the work for our western counties and is expected to intensify by Tuesday.

Dew points tomorrow will be low, resulting in relative humidity values ranging from only twenty to thirty percent. Coinciding with the dry air, winds will become gusty tomorrow, particularly for areas to the west of US 65, where sustained winds from 15 to 25 miles will be possible.

Due to this, the National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for Benton, Saline, Pettis, and Camden counties for Monday afternoon and evening. In these conditions, outdoor burning is highly discouraged.
