Chilly, damp weather Friday

A cold front will move through Mid-Missouri by Friday morning followed by an upper level wave of low pressure which slides in from the west in the afternoon. Clouds will increase ahead of this feature Thursday night with mostly cloudy skies by Friday morning as temperatures fall into the mid to upper 30s.

It will stay chilly all day Friday with afternoon temperatures in the 40s. As moisture increases from the west, light rain will develop as early as mid-morning near I-70 but is more likely to hold off until afternoon.

Although temperatures at the surface will stay above freezing through Friday evening, it will be below freezing at 3000 feet and higher. The cold rain could have snow mixed in at times, especially Friday evening.

The best chance of steady rain is south of I-70 although some brief light rain is possible north. Rain increases through early evening then moves southeast and out of the area just after midnight. Rainfall amounts will be light with a tenth near I-70 to a quarter inch near the Lake of the Ozarks. Amounts up to a half inch are possible closer to I-44.
