Four men charged for alleged fraud at Columbia Mall

Four Chicago men have been charged after their arrests for using fake credit cards at the Columbia Mall.

The men were arrested Saturday after the Columbia Police Department realized they were somehow getting people’s credit card numbers, making fake cards and buying items with them.

CPD arrested Damien Bonney (19), Marcelis Griffin (26), John Joyce (25), and Demari Williams (24). All four men are from Chicago.

Police said the suspects were able to get in at least two shopping trips with the fake cards at the mall before they were noticed by the mall’s security who then contacted the police department.

Police say these could be the same men involved in a similar crime in Sturgeon, Missouri.

All four men are in the Boone County Jail with bonds set at more than $100,000. They’re facing charges of forgery and possessing forging instruments.
