Columbia road reopens after failed culvert forces closure

Crews have reopened Sinclair Road in south Columbia after a culvert failure prompted a closure last week. The road reopened Monday morning at 9.The closure was between Nifong Boulevard and Southampton Drive.

The failure created what city officials describe as a “large cavity,” and put the road in danger of collapsing.

The stormwater culvert that failed is scheduled for replacement this fall.
