UPDATE: Accused killer likely tried in MO before KCK

The man accused of killing four Kansas City, Kansas men and one Montgomery County man will likely be tried in Missouri before being sent back to Kansas City to face charges.

The Kansas prosecutor says as long as Missouri prosecutors are actively pursuing charges against Pablo Serrano, they have the right to keep him.

Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster said on Thursday Serrano would be tried in Missouri first.

According to ATF, they don’t believe the gun used in the killings was stolen. Investigators are trying to find out who legally bought the gun used in the homicides.

A report also says Serrano threatened to kill his wife in 2003. The probation officer’s report from a Los Angeles County court says police were called to his home and the wife told them Serrano pointed a loaded rifle at her and threatened to kill her.

The following year, Serrano was deported back to Mexico and it is not clear when he reentered the country.

Serrano was captured in Montgomery County on Wednesday after a near day long manhunt.
