Mid-Missouri felon arrested in Auxvasse for threatening judge

A man is in jail Friday after threatening to shoot a Boone County judge.

Jerry Wilkerson, 69, is charged with tampering with a judicial officer.

Wilkerson is being held in Callaway County without a chance of bond.

Lt. Clay Chism with the Callaway County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Boone County deputies alerted the department of the threats Wilkerson made at the VA hospital Thursday.

Callaway County deputies then arrested Wilkerson in Auxvasse.

According to court documents ABC17 News obtained Friday, a Boone County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a harassment report at the Boone County Courthouse.

The deputy said Judge Gary Oxenhandler told him that he had gotten information that Wilkerson had told the hospital staff that he was going to shoot him.

According to the documents, Wilkerson said he was going to solve his problems by eliminating the judge.

He said he’d shoot him on a Monday because his court dates were on Mondays. The documents also indicate that Wilkerson told hospital staff that he had access to a firearm.

This is not Wilkerson’s first run-in with the law.

In 2014, Wilkerson was arrested and later convicted for second-degree assault and resisting arrest after he tried to hit Auxvasse Police Chief Kevin Suedmeyer with his car.

Suedmeyer had wanted to speak with Wilkerson about a complaint he’d made against an officer.

He pleaded guilty and received five years probation for the incident and spent 30 days in jail.

Wilkerson is also a registered sex offender.
