Group rallies against legalizing marijuana in Missouri

The Keeping Missouri Kids Safe coalition held a rally against legalizing marijuana at the state capitol Wednesday morning.

The coalition cited data from Colorado in its arguments against marijuana. Colorado voters chose to make medical and recreational marijuana use legal in 2012. Voters in Washington did so as well.

According to Keeping Missouri Kids Safe, since marijuana was legalized, school suspensions and dropouts in Colorado went up 40%. The group also says less than five percent of registered medical marijuana users in states where it’s legal have life-threatening medical conditions.

The coalition said it’s concerned medical marijuana, if legalized in Missouri, would not be properly regulated and could cause drugs to end up in the wrong hands.
