Voters in 4 states head to the polls Tuesday for presidential primaries

Voters in four states are heading to the polls Tuesday for presidential primary contests.

Republicans are voting in Michigan, Mississippi, Idaho and Hawaii Tuesday while Democrats are voting in Michigan and Mississippi.

Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton and Republican candidate Donald Trump are the favorites in Michigan. Both front-runners areare hoping to increase their delegate leads to make their claims on the nomination seem inevitable.

On Monday night, Trump had his motorcade drive onto the field of a Mississippi high school football stadium after delivering a speech in the school’s auditorium. He repeated his promise to boost the political power of Christians.

Trump and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz have separated themselves from Florida Sen. Marco Rubio in the delegate count and Tuesdayis expected tohelp them build on their advantage.

Cruz is also going into Tuesday’s primary with a new endorsement from Mississippi’s Governor.

Both Hillary Clinton and Democratic rival Bernie Sanders campaigned in Michigan Monday.

Clinton asked Democrats for their support and to look ahead to November.

At an African-American history museum in Detroit, she told voters, “The sooner I could become your nominee the more I can begin to turn my attention to the Republicans.”

Sanders spent Monday doing damage control after a recent comment that implied white people don’t know its like to be poor.

Sanders said,”What I meant by that was in African-American communities, you have people who are living in desperation, often being abused by white police officers. But I know about white poverty. It exists in my state, it exists all over this country.”
