Mizzou preps for start of season with new roster
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Mizzou basketball team have. anew look heading into the 2021-22 season. Cuonzo Martin and company only brought back two returning starters, following last season.
However, the group said communication is better than ever, despite the new faces.
"It's come a long way, honestly," Mizzou forward Kobe Brown said. "You know, first getting here it was a lot of new guys, we had to get a feel for each other's games and stuff, so we're starting to get that down. We should be fine."
The Tigers finished the 2020-21 season at 16-10 overall. Martin's group did manage to make it into the NCAA Tournament, but fell out in the first round against Oklahoma. But Javon Pickett and Kobe Brown are the only two guys who are still in Columbia that started those games last season.
Pickett said there is something for this team to prove.
"Coming off of the season that we had last year, you know, everybody just wants to make sure that we are doing what we have to do," he said. "We feel like we have all the pieces to excel more than we did last year, so we're just going to keep working each and every day."
Mizzou will open up the season against Central Michigan on Nov. 9 at Mizzou Arena.
