Toddler dies, 3 others injured in crash

A three year old is dead after a car crash in Camden County–and the driver is facing involuntary manslaughter charges.

The accident happened Friday night around 6 p.m. on South Business Five when a 19 year old driver veered off the side of the road and hit a culvert.

Three other children — ages six, nine, and 10 — were taken to the Lake Regional Hospital.

The three-year-old and the six-year-old were not wearing seat belts or secured.

The driver, Griselda Ramirez-Ortiz, was subsequently arrested and is facing multiple charges including felony involuntary manslaughter, three felony counts of second degree assault, misdemeanor driving without a license and two counts of failure to secure a child less than eight in a child restraint.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says this is Troop F’s first fatality in March and 9th for 2016.
