Crews respond to car crash Friday east of Columbia

ABC 17 News confirmed at least 13 units responded to a crash Friday afternoon about 15 minutes east of Columbia. It was reported 1:40 p.m. Friday by Cedar Creek on Highway WW, which becomes Broadway.

Ambulances responded along with the state highway patrol, Millersburg fire, the Boone County Fire Protection District and Columbia fire. The scene was cleared by 2:50 p.m.

A trooper told ABC 17 News a woman lost control going east, before slamming into a ditch. She escaped with minor injuries but her passenger, Mark Warfield, 52, went to University Hospital with serious injuries. No drugs or alcohol are believed to be involved.

The state reports the driver crossed the center line before over-correcting and going off the roadway. As of late Friday night, Warfield was listed under fair condition.
