Man charged with assault after threatening his wife

A man is now charged with third degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession after he apparently threatened his wife with a gun in north Columbia Sunday.

Columbia Police tell ABC 17 News they arrested Carlos Brown, 29, after he threatened to harm his wife and had a handgun in his lap while sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot of Sidelines Bar.

Officers responded to the business on Big Bear Boulevard just after 2:00 a.m. Brown was not there when officers arrived.

Police located Brown when they made a traffic stop in the 2100 block of Whispering Meadows Court.

said they arrested Brown about an hour later when they found him near Rice Road and Ballenger Lane.

Brown is a convicted felon and is currently being held in the Boone County Jail.
