Columbia school board discusses safety and security improvements

The Columbia school board discussed safety and security at a meeting Thursday morning.

Members discussed active shooter training and current security measures.

Those measures include HD camera systems in all the schools, new security alarms, and emergency radios in the district’s security budget.

The CPS school security budget has jumped from $500,000 to $750,000 in the past 5 years, about a 50% increase.

The school board also watched videos of active shooter training.

CPS Safety and Security Director John White delivered a presentation outlining changes and improvements in safety and security at CPS over the past few years.
