Shots fired at home in Boone County
Boone County deputies are investigating a shooting at a home on Wade School Road Tuesday morning.
Shortly before 3 a.m., dispatchers got calls about gunfire hitting a home in the 7000 block. The Sheriff’s office said there was a man and woman in the apartment. They were not injured during the shooting.
Our crews saw at least 15 evidence markers in the backyard of the home. A deputy was also placing markers inside the home.
Deputies were bagging shell casings from the yard. They also took pictures of bullet holes in the back of the home. A lieutenant on scene said a bullet could have easily passed through the wall.
A neighbor said he was awake when he heard the shots. He said he stepped outside but didn’t see anything or hear anything else. Another neighbor tells ABC 17 News he’s lived there about six months and this is the first shooting the area he can recall. He says its usually a quiet area.
Around 9 a.m., Boone County K-9 deputies were on scene researching the area. One lieutenant told ABC 17 they’re looking again in the daylight. He said the K-9 was looking for any unusual smells, like bullets or human scents. He said using the K-9 for tracking wasn’t really a viable option because of the wind and rain.
