Gas tax hike bill moves to vote in the Missouri Senate

A Missouri Senate Committee voted on a small increase to the state fuel tax Wednesday.

The office of state Senator Doug Libla, the chairman of the committee, confirmed his bill to increase the state fuel tax was approved by the committee Wednesday morning.

The bill will head to the full Missouri Senate.

Lawmakers are split on where money should come from to fix roads and bridges.

The chairman of the House transportation committee said last week that he thinks it’s going to take more than one approach to get funding for the transportation budget.
