Jefferson City Council scheduled to appoint finance director

The Jefferson City Council will consider appointing a finance director at Tuesday night’s meeting. The Council meets Tuesday at 6 pm at the Christy Municipal Building.

The Jefferson City Council is expected to appoint Margaret Mueller as the city’s director of Finance and Information Technology, at Tuesday’s meeting. Jefferson city administrator Steve Crowell says she would replace Bill Betts, who took another job.

Mueller currently serves as the Missouri Department of Conservation’s chief Financial officer and the Administrative Services Division chief. She works closely with the Missouri Conservation Commission, which is an independent Commission. The Jefferson City Council packet notes Mueller currently oversees a budget of about $200 million.

Crowell recommends that Mueller’s starting salary be $105,000 annually, along with standard benefits. If the Council approves the appointment, Mueller would begin with Jefferson City on March 1.
