Community memorializes Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Communities around mid-Missouri are memorializing Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Monday throughout the day.

In Columbia, the NAACP is hosting their annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. program. It began with a service at the memorial at Battle Garden on Stadium Boulevard.

A motorcade leading to Second Baptist Church on 407 E. Broadway proceeded the memorial. At the church, a celebration program begins Monday at noon.

A free community luncheon takes place after the program in the Church Education Center.

This year’s theme for the program is “Reaffirming a Legacy of Hope.”
