Light showers, much colder air

Light showers are possible Thursday night into early morning Friday as a cold front moves through. Ahead of the front, a narrow band of moisture will move in from the southwest, shifting east through early Friday morning.

Hit and miss showers will bring up to a tenth of an inch of rain to Mid-Missouri, moving east and out of the area by 8 AM Friday. Temperatures will stay in the 30s Friday but 15 mph northwesterly winds will make if feel more like the 20s.

Much colder air settles in for the weekend with temperatures starting off in the lower 20s Saturday and reaching near 30 Saturday afternoon with wind chills in the teens much of the day. Sunday is even colder with high temperatures only reaching the lower 20s. Wind chill readings will start off just below zero Sunday morning, staying in the single digits through the day.

A brief period of light snow or flurries is possible early Sunday morning. A fast moving wave of low pressure will bring a chance of light snow to northern Missouri by 3 AM and moving south and out of the area by noon Sunday. There is still uncertainty on how much of the snow will be able to hit the ground due to the dry air in lower levels.
