Mizzou falls in conference opener with South Carolina

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou soccer team extended the losing streak against South Carolina to eight games with a 2-1 loss on Thursday night.

MU goalkeeper Sophia Worth held off the Gamecock attack the entire first half, however, the shutout did not go on forever. The pace picked up after halftime.

South Carolina and Mizzou were tied with one goal apiece headed into the later stages of the match, but the Gamecocks' Corrino Zullo knocked in the game-winning goal.

There were still quite a few positive for MU in the conference opener. Blythe Beldner scored her first goal of the season, which tied the game. It was just the second goal of her career.

Up next - Mizzou will head to Alabama to face the Crimson Tide on Thursday.
